Project goals

The "AI for Sustainability Assessment" project aims to explore the potential of AI for the sustainability assessment of companies and to develop a software tool for this purpose. The overarching goal is to develop an initial database for a larger DFG proposal. Three sub-goals are being pursued in the project:

  1. The state of the literature is to be systematically analysed.
  2. Qualitative interviews with sustainability experts will be used to analyse the process of sustainability assessment and its starting points for AI tools.
  3. A software prototype will be developed based on AI, which will facilitate and deepen the sustainability assessment of companies and/or their business models using established frameworks (e.g. the UN SDGs).

The project will be implemented in winter semester 2027/2027 and summer semester 2027. In the conceptualisation phase, initial preliminary studies have already been presented at scientific conferences (e.g. VHB Tie conference, ZEW CoDE).

After implementation, the findings will be reflected on and disseminated. They will also be incorporated into social entrepreneurship teaching in appropriate places.
